GUWAHATI Guwahati: 12-year-old Assam native Dishant Borthakur has made it to the prestigious Mumbai City FC U13 team, one of the top football clubs in India. A passionate athlete since childhood, Dishant started playing football at the age of five. His determination, focus and extraordinary skills have taken him to the top not only in football but also in cricket and tennis. Dishant has performed impressively as a left-handed batsman in cricket, while his tennis strokes have won him several awards in intercity tournaments. Dishant plays as a left-footed right winger on the football field, adept at dribbling, shooting and delivering long passes. For the past two years, Dishant has been training with SoccerStarz Football Club and is also being mentored by his school coaches, who have contributed significantly to his progress. He will now represent Mumbai City FC in the I-League and various Mumbai Football Association (MFA) matches. Dishant, currently studying in class 7, is also an advanced level pianist. Dishant, the eldest son of Saurav Borthakur and Trishna Goswami of Goregaon, Mumbai, has his roots in Geetanagar, Guwahati, the capital of Assam. Dishant’s younger brother Divyan is also fond of football and wants to follow his footsteps.
