With those three words we can define 2024 for the Panama Senior Men’s Team when we enter the last weeks of the month of December, already in the final stretch of a profitable year for national football.
Positive given that for the third consecutive year the ticket to the CONCACAF Nations League Final Fourand incidentally confirming an eleventh consecutive classification to the Gold Cup 2025.
Historic considering that for the first time they advanced to the next quarterfinal phase in a CONMEBOL Copa América.
And, finally, exciting because they added the six possible points with victories in the first two games of the Qualifiers towards the next FIFA World Cup 2026.
Fajardo, the scorer
The National Team played a total of 15 matches in 2024, including both unofficial matches against the regional teams of Catalonia and Galicia.
Panama Mayor’s top scorer this year was forward Jose Fajardo with 5 goals in 13 games. Fajardo has a total of 15 goals with the Panama shirt.
Following the list of top scorers in 2024 are: José Luis Rodríguez with three goals, and Éric Davis and César Blackman, both with two goals.

The first official commitments assigned for the Senior National Team are in the month of March when the matches of the Concacaf Nations League Final Four.
Panama will face its counterpart from the United States, next Thursday, March 20 at SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, California.
The winner will play the grand final next Sunday, March 23 against the winner of the other key between Mexico and Canada, while the loser will play the match for third place, both at SoFi Stadium.
2025 World Cup Qualifiers
On the other hand, in the month of June the World Cup Qualifiers with the last two games of the second round of CONCACAF.
The first match is next June 7 when they face a visit to Belice and closing the group receives at home on June 10 Nicaraguain a match to be played in the Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez Stadium.

If they advance, Panama Mayor will play the next and final phase of the World Cup Qualifiers on the FIFA dates of September, October and November.
Gold Cup 2025
After the World Cup Qualifying matches, the Senior National Team will set its sights on its next challenge: Gold Cup 2025.
Panama sealed its qualification for the Gold Cup in November by knocking out Costa Rica in the round-trip series for the quarterfinals of the Nations League.
In total, there are already 12 qualifications for the Gold Cup for the national team.
Those led by coach Thomas Christiansen have just reached the final in the last edition of the 2023 Gold Cup where they lost in the grand final against Mexico at SoFi Stadium.
The 2025 Gold Cup will be played from June 14 to July 6 in 14 different stadiums in the United States and Canada.
