Brewers announce 45-man roster for ‘Summer Camp’ at Miller Park

The Brewers were one of the last teams in the league to make a public announcement, but we finally know who will report to Miller Park when the Summer Camp (now with a logo and everything) starts on July 4th.

You may have noticed that the brewers only announce the players on their way to the Big League Camp, not their entire 60-player pool. The organization can name the rest of these players later (and we already know that one of these players will be Tyrone Taylor after being added to the secondary squad at Appleton this weekend).

The 45 players at Miller Park Camp look more or less like the group that was still in the Big League Camp when spring training closed in mid-March. As Adam McCalvy notes, there are a handful of players on the 40-man squad that are not on the list.

The players mentioned by McCalvy appear to be 4 of the 15 players who have not yet been announced to fill the 60-man pool. Other places could be filled by non-squad players, including some top prospects, as David Stearns indicated last week.

Also interesting are the non-squad players who are * on the 45-member “Big League Camp” list – the pitcher Zack Brown, Jake Faria, Shelby Miller, Mike Morin and Drew Rasmussen, the DH candidate Logan Morrison, utility player Jace Peterson and outfielder Keon Broxton. Everyone has a chance to create the extended roster for the new opening day as they have unique skills and Craig Counsell plans to take 14 or 15 pitchers out of the camp per season.
