FCM has relentlessness

Three games before the end of the season, 1. FC Magdeburg could secure relegation against Groaspach on Sunday (2 p.m.).

Magdeburg l Despite the point won at 0-0 in Unterhaching, the away trip for 1. FC Magdeburg was not a good star. The return trip was extremely difficult. Since the team bus was stuck in traffic for two hours, the team did not arrive in Magdeburg until around six in the morning on Thursday.

But the FCM does not want to be influenced by such obstacles. “The point in Haching was very important. It is now a matter of winning against Großaspach and securing relegation, ”emphasizes captain Christian Beck. The conditions are good:

Starting position

With three games remaining, the club has 43 points, five points ahead of the first relegation zone, the Preußen Münster. There are six points on the FSV Zwickau, which is on the second relegation zone. The club also has the best goal difference. “We will try to put the lid on Sunday,” said Thomas Hoßmang, who as FCM coach got six points from four games and remained unbeaten.

Competitors

The FCM welcomes SG Sonnenhof Großaspach at 2 p.m. on Sunday, who was last relegated after the 1: 2 win against Meppen. The club won the first leg with a late Beck goal 2-1.

The competition, on the other hand, has ambitious opponents in front of their chest: Münster competes today (2 p.m.) with SV Waldhof Mannheim, who is still involved in the promotion race. The FSV Zwickau is playing at home against Eintracht Braunschweig at the same time.

Arithmetic games

A prerequisite for the mathematically safe FCM class maintenance is a victory against Großaspach. In addition, Münster and Zwickau are not allowed to win. Even if both competitors play in a tie and the FCM wins, Magdeburg would be saved. The club would then have seven points more than Münster and eight more than Zwickau if there were two games remaining. Should Münster and Zwickau lose and the FCM get a point, Münster would be six points behind and the significantly worse goal difference. The club would actually be saved.

Personal

Despite the good starting position, the FCM also has problems. The players go out Hoßmang. Because of his red card in Unterhaching, Charles Elie Laprévotte was suspended for two games. Tobias Müller and Daniel Steininger are struck, but they may well show up.

Sören Bertram (shoulder surgery), Dustin Bomheuer (cruciate ligament rupture), Tarek Chahed (knee problems), Dominik Ernst (strength training), Philipp Harant (ligament rupture in the ankle) and Patrick Möschl (muscular problems in the left thigh) will also be missing. “We want to cut everything out against Großaspach despite the outages so that we don’t have to tremble again,” says Beck.
