(CNN Español) — Without being able to celebrate it on the court, Liverpool broke a 30-year-old hex on Thursday without being able to win the English league. For the first time in its history, the Merseyside team is the champion of a Premier League, which was created in 1992.
The defeat of their escort in the table, Manchester City, this Thursday against Chelsea, was enough for the Reds to be crowned. Those led by Jürgen Klopp had done their part this Wednesday, thrashing Crystal Palace 4-0.

It seemed only a matter of time for Liverpool to take the 19th English league in its history. His predominance under the tutelage of Klopp throughout this campaign came to leave him undisputed first in the table, with an advantage of more than 20 points over Manchester City by Pep Guardiola.
It is not the only important title that Liverpool has won at the hands of Klopp. Last year he kept his sixth Champions League after defeating Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham in the final 2-0. It was after leaving Barcelona on the way to the semifinals, going back 3-0 against in the first leg with a Historic 4-0 at Anfield.
The last English league won by the Reds before this was in the 1989-1990 season, when the Premier League did not yet exist.
