The winger’s deal includes a massive release clause that will double if he ever joins the senior team
Konrad de la Fuente, the star of the U20 national team, has signed a new contract with Barcelona as he dedicates his future to the Spanish giants.
De la Fuente’s new contract runs until 2022 – including the option of another two years – and the winger will make the permanent leap to Barcelona B next season after starting this season with the U-19s.
The 18-year-old winger has played five games with Barca B so far, scoring one goal – added time in a win in February against AE Prat.
De La Fuente and Barca B could play in the Spanish second division next season if the club ensures promotion from the third division in July.
Under the new contract, De la Fuente will have a release clause of EUR 50m (USD 57m / GBP 45.5m) while remaining with Barca B. This fee increases to EUR 100m (USD 114m / GBP 91m) if he makes the jump to the first team.
Konrad signed his new contract at Estadi Johan Cruyff together with Barca B director Xavier Vilajoana and technical secretary Eric Abidal.
“I am very happy to continue playing in the best club in the world,” said the winger in a statement. “It has always been my dream to play on the first team, so I want to stay here to try to do that.”
“The first goal now is to ascend to Segunda A with Barca B.”
The news comes after links to a move from Barcelona, with the winger strongly linked to a move to Hertha Berlin earlier this year.

De la Fuente, who was born to Haitian parents in Miami, joined La Masia in 2014 and has prevailed in the club’s youth in recent years.
The 18-year-old was the second youngest member of the U.S. U-20 national team to take part in the U-20 World Cup in 2019, playing alongside players like Sergino Dest, Timothy Weah and Ulysses Llanez.
In the end, the United States fell in the quarter-finals after a knockout victory over popular France against Ecuador, with De la Fuente starting all five games of the tournament.
