Hand biker Alex Zanardi still back in intensive care Sport

His state of health is unstable again, Como hospital reported, which includes the rehabilitation center. The 53-year-old Italian has been transferred to a hospital in Milan.

Zanardi spent more than a month in the Siena hospital after crashing into a truck with his handbike at full speed and sustaining severe brain injuries. He had surgery several times and was critically in an artificial coma for a long time. He was taken out of that coma a week ago. Last Tuesday, Zanardi was even released from the hospital.

The four-time Paralympic champion was a Formula 1 driver in the 1990s. In 2001 he lost both legs in an accident at the German Lausitzring when he took part in the Champ Car.
