Wesley Hoedt turned out to be one of the best defenders in the Jupiler Pro League last season. At Royal Antwerp FC, the mercenary of Southampton impressed week after week. Hoedt may now be facing a return to Belgium.
At the end of last season, Hoedt proved unfeasible for Antwerp. The price that Southampton had hung around the defender’s neck was too high.
Meanwhile, however, the asking price for Hoedt would have fallen sharply. For example, Southampton would still ask 6.5 million euros for the Dutchman. Suddenly, Hoedt is now on his way to an unnamed Belgian top club.
Antwerp undoubtedly still hopes for a return of Hoedt. Club Brugge previously sniffed Hoedt and may also be interested. KRC Genk and AA Gent are also financially powerful to get the defender.
