AA Gent and Lille agree on 27 million (+ bonuses) for Jonathan David | Jupiler Pro League

The transfer of 20-year-old Jonathan David has been in the pipeline for several weeks, although at times it went in fits and starts.

With AA Gent manager Michel Louwagie, Lille was confronted with a seasoned negotiator. And even now Louwagie managed to get the most out of it.

With an amount of more than 27 million euros, AA Gent is once again doing a golden business. Thanks to a number of bonuses, that amount can add up to several million euros, according to the French sports newspaper L’Equipe.

Today David has to visit the medical cell in Lille for a medical check-up. After that, David can sign a contract for 5 seasons with the Northern French club, which recently sold Victor Osimhen to Napoli for a multiple amount. Lille and David still have to reach an agreement themselves.

If the transfer is officially completed today (or tomorrow), David will be the most expensive outbound transfer in our country. The quicksilver Canadian, good for 2.5 years of good weather at Ghent, outdoes the current record holders Youri Tielemans (Anderlecht => Monaco) and Wesley (Club Brugge => Aston Villa). Those two earned their club an amount of 25 million euros.
