Martin Odegaard Will Return to Real Madrid Next Season

Jakarta

Martin Odegaard is rumored to be returning to play at Real Madrid. Los Blancos coach, Zinedine Zidane, saw that the Norwegian midfielder was ready to play with Sergio Ramos et al.

Joining Madrid since 2015, Odegaard only played once with Madrid seniors and played more in the youth team. For the last three years, he has always been on loan, starting from Heerenveen, Vitesse, and most recently at Real Sociedad.

Together with Sociedad, Odegaard’s appearance has matured. In the 2019/20 season, the 21-year-old player made 36 appearances scoring 7 goals and 9 assists. He even managed to break into Madrid’s goal in the Copa Del Rey quarter-finals.

Marca and AS reported that Odegaard’s performance last season was believed to be the reason Zidane called him back to Madrid for the 2020/21 season. Odegaard was actually on loan at Sociedad for a season with the option of a season extension, which looked unlikely.

Odegaard himself is said to have spoken with Zidane, and he is happy to return to the Madrid main team. Madrid President Florentino Perez has also spoken with Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay, reporting that Odegaard will not return to San Sebastian, the city where Sociedad is headquartered.

Odegaard’s entry into the Madrid first team indicates that there will be players who will move, because Odegaard will choose to stay at Sociedad if he doesn’t get a chance to play. Based on the rumors that have developed so far, Isco is the player to be released.

Besides Isco, there is also Luka Modric who will turn 35 next month. Toni Kroos has also begun to be linked with the exit from the Santiago Bernabeu, even though Madrid have a better chance of being defended next season.
