The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, and the Paris police prefect, Didier Lallement, presented, this Saturday morning, the security system that will be put in place in Paris on Sunday evening for the Champions League final between the PSG and Bayern Munich.

17 metro stations closed. They will keep doors closed in order “to avoid too much traffic”, they indicated, specifying that the Champs-Elysées will be reserved for pedestrians “from 9 pm […] so that people can fill the space by following the rules ”. This will allow “to respect social distancing”, justified Didier Lallement.

At least 2,000 masks distributed. In order to respect barrier gestures, at least 2,000 masks will be distributed to “prevention points”. Wearing it will also be compulsory in an enlarged area around the avenue des Champs-Elysées. Any gathering will also be prohibited in the area concerned “two hours after the match, one can imagine”, indicated Gérald Darmanin, warning that “police and gendarmes will evacuate people”.

3000 members of the police force deployed. 3,000 police officers and gendarmes will be “deployed tomorrow (Sunday) in Paris” in order to enforce public order, said the Minister of the Interior. Note that this device will be the same whether PSG wins or loses, he said.

Beware of returning from vacation. The Minister of the Interior also recommended to vacationers returning to Paris “at most to arrive after 3 pm, especially at Porte Maillot”. Many Ile-de-France residents should hit the road for this weekend of great return from summer vacation.

A new gathering on Monday? Finally, another gathering of 5,000 people at the Parc des Princes, such as the one organized on Sunday to follow the match, will also be possible on Monday when the players return.
