A Patriots draft pick decided to retire before playing a cinch in the NFL.

New England rookie center Dustin Woodard is retiring, reports NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

A Memphis seventh-round draft pick, Woodard has decided he doesn’t want to play football anymore, according to the report. The decision is unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Woodard started 52 games in Memphis, first at guard and then at center. Now he has decided to walk away.
