Analysis of week 6 of the NFL

These are the lessons learned in each of the games in the analysis of week 6 of the NFL Season 2020. NOTE: This post will be updated after the MNF games.

TEN 42, HOU 36 (OT)

1. The Titans are very well trained, that’s the conclusion of this game. They play with motivation, grit, and never seem to give up. Much credit to Arthur Smith and his offensive game plans, plus his adjustments; he will soon be a head coach in this league.

2. Again, the decision to go for two points for the Texans, for me, was the right one, it just didn’t come out. You achieved it and you put two possessions, you did not achieve it and the distance was still seven. The point is that afterwards they could never stop the Titans.

IND 31, CIN 27

3. Speaking of massive efforts: the Colts weren’t beaten at any point, they knew that game was theirs, and it showed. I’m not going to say that Philip Rivers saved the team, but he did play the best game I’ve seen him in two years. They need to make a more dedicated effort to give the ball to Jonathan Taylor: He averaged five yards per carry but just sixty on the ground.

4. It’s clear: they can send AJ Green to another team and get good picks, now is the time with his 96 yards. Tee Higgins is going to perform the same role with no problems, and maybe even with better production today: he is a great talent.

ATL 40, MIN 23

5. The typical: change of coach and the players go out to give their best effort; it was noticed. Dan Quinn already had a lot of friction in that dressing room.

6. 1-5 for some Vikings who, according to them, have the talent to fight. I always give credit to Mike Zimmer, but I think he missed making key adjustments and failed at important moments in the game. Not to mention Kirk Cousins.

7. The pressure the Broncos exerted on Cam Newton was impressive, so much so that the guy really didn’t have a chance to breathe. Any quarterback looks insignificant under that pressure (if you don’t ask Aaron Rodgers against Tampa Bay), and the thing is, I swore Bill Belichick was going to try some more aggressive adjustment for the second half and it didn’t show. For me, Belichick is the best coach in history, but he can also have mistakes, and I have to criticize him: from the outset, a very bad game plan, the screens and short passes worked, but at some point they were no longer aggressive enough to be able to to win that game, and when the game was on the line, it seemed very strange to me that he punched in a fourth and 1 when I had to look for more scores. Bad work there, Bill.

8. I say, with everything and that he had a bad, bad game: Drew Lock is a true winner. Really, there’s not much more to say: he has the mentality and physical qualities to be a great QB in this league.

NYG 20, WSH 19

9. Sometimes the games between coleros are fun, and this one did not fail. A clumsy and rough game, where Daniel Jones’s athletic ability is worth noting first. Can you explain to me why you hadn’t exploited your ability to run to this degree?

10. On the WFT side, I have to bring out Terry McLaurin. This really is a potential DeAndre Hopkins in the sense that he can look good and produce with any quarterback who throws the ball at him. What a great talent.

BAL 30, PHI 28

11. The Ravens let the Eagles live, and so this game was about to be tied. Injuries continue to plague this team and now Zach Ertz and Miles Sanders came out with injuries. The only good news is that they are in NFC East.

12. It’s interesting to think that Lamar Jackson is the fastest player on the court in most games. This causes defenses to overcorrect to keep him in the bag, but now he’s also become a very good passer.

PIT 38, CLE 7

13.- The Steelers are a very complete team, and seeing good contributions from Minkah Fitzpatrick gives even more importance to this defense as one of the best in the league. But he’s not the only one who has stood out: Now, with pieces like Chase Claypool and Eric Ebron, they really are a team of care.

14.- We predicted: Baker Mayfield is not a good quarterback when under a lot of pressure, and now he has four sacks. Considering that, in addition, he was a bit beaten, the poor performance is confirmed with his mediocre 119 passing yards and 2 interceptions. The Browns did nothing in this game to change my opinion that still the browns.
