Basketball: easy victory at the start of the test game for BBL newcomer Chemnitz

BBL promoted Niners Chemnitz did not give the Nürnberg Falcons the slightest chance in the first test match of the season preparation and swept last year’s ProA competitor with 99:69 (47:31) from the floor of the Richard-Hartmann-Halle.

Five players hit double digits

In the absence of the public, five of the total of 13 Chemnitz players entered the scoreboard with a double-digit result. The best throwers were shooting guard Terrell Harris and the two newcomers Filip Stanic and Isiaha Mike with 13 points each.

In addition, the home grown Jonas Richter stood out with ten points, six rebounds and four assists. “Overall, I am satisfied with the performance. Even if, as expected, everything did not go smoothly, I really liked the way the guys tried to play together as a team,” Niners head coach Rodrigo was quoted as saying in an official club release.

Dense test program / hygiene concept in progress

A real test marathon has started for the Saxons. Until the start of the season at the beginning of November Chemnitz will play a total of eleven preparatory games – including Chemnitz twice against BBL competitor Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels (away on September 27th / at home on October 30th) and Science City Jena (October 10th). “We are playing more test matches this summer than ever before in order to prepare as best as possible for our Bundesliga premiere and to integrate the newcomers optimally into our team,” said Pastore, explaining the dense program.

At the latest at the beginning of the BBL on November 6th (schedule not yet published), the club officials hope to be allowed to play again in front of fans in the hall. For this they are “currently working on a viable concept”, said Niners managing director Steffen Herhold a few days ago and added: “If the relevant permits are available in time, maybe one or two test matches could take place at the end of October with a reduced number of visitors.”
