Season start after a short preparation: Bottrop local derby in the Badminton Association League

The Bottrop Badminton Association (BBG) is about to start the new season. The preparation was short after the long Corona-related break and closings of the sports halls due to final exams and repair work, but the teams are still looking forward to the LigaStart.

You noticed that in the past few weeks of training. “BBG is back” is not just the motto on the club’s specially printed campaign jerseys that were distributed to members. On Saturday the BBG will finally be back in the fields. The BBG teams will initially start away from home. A total of six teams will take to the fields in the 2020/21 season. In the association league, there is a local derby between the promoted BC 89 and the relegated BBG (6 p.m., August-Everding Realschule sports hall) on the first match day. For the badminton community around player-coach Matthias Kuchenbecker, the party is an important guide to where the association league is headed.
The second representation of the BBG appears in the district league at the OSC BG Essen-Werden3. After being relegated from the regional league, the Bottropers first have to find their way, the team from the south of Essen barely managed to stay in the league in the past season. Despite the placement on a relegation place, the BBG third remained in the district class. At the start, the troops will meet VfB GW Mülheim 4. The two teams know each other from last season, when each team won a 5-3 win at each meeting.
Even among young people, the badminton community is well positioned again in the new season. After a successful season, which the youth team finished in second place in the district league, the league newcomer TuS Xanten starts away. The mini-team U17 has been newly formed and will play on the first day of play at Moerser TV. The U15 mini-teams will have another local duel: On Saturday at 3 p.m., the BC 89 M2 and the BBG M2 will meet (sports hall August-Everding-Realschule).
