Tennis world breaks out, “shameful” scenes

Tennis fans have slammed Sara Errani after the Italian player abused Kiki Bertens and accused her of faking injury at the French Open." data-reactid="32">Tennis fans beat up Sara Errani after Italian player abused Kiki Bertens and accused her of faking an injury at the French Open.

Bertens finally won 7-6 (5) 3-6 9-7 in a clay court duel lasting more than three hours.

However, the Dutch player left the pitch in a wheelchair and tearful after suffering physical problems in the last set.

The 28-year-old said she suffered a full body cramp when she returned to her chair after the game and required 45 minutes of treatment in the locker room.

However, Errani was not convinced.

After the game, the Italian player accused Bertens of faking her injuries and even taunted her opponent during the game.

“I don’t like it when someone jokes about you. She played a great match, but I don’t like the situation, ”said Errani.

“She’s injured for an hour, then runs like never before. I do not like it.

“She walks out of court in the chair and now she’s perfect in the locker room, in the restaurant. I don’t like these things.

“Then after people tell me I’m an unfair person. It’s funny to me these things. I don’t think she had a good attitude in court. That did not please me. “

Errani also left the square without knocking with Beren’s bat and when she left she yelled “F *** you” in Italian.

Fans were incredulous of Errani’s actions, calling her “pathetic” and “shameful”.

Kiki Bertens denies a false injury

Bertens laughed at Errani’s comments after the match and insisted that she not pretend.

“She can say what she wants, but maybe I should take more acting classes or pursue a career in it,” Bertens said.

“I’m not sure what she’s thinking, but no, I didn’t really feel good on the pitch.

“I don’t want to try to take it too personally because I know their frustrations too. I think she’s also frustrated that she couldn’t finish this match. “

33-year-old Errani, who had qualified for her first Grand Slam for two years after being banned from doping, played three times for the game.

She tried every trick in her arsenal, including a few sunken armpit cuffs, but Bertens stuck, though occasionally he was on the verge of collapse.

Errani’s serve is one of the weakest on the tour and it failed on 5-4, 6-5 and 7-6 as it got louder and louder and repeatedly screamed ‘Vamos’ for points.

At 6-5 she brought a match point with a killer drop shot, but Bertens saved it with an angled forehand winner.

Bertens summoned all her energy to eventually hold the serve to lead 8-7 in the playoff and had a triple match point in the next game, only Errani was able to save them all.

Bertens got another opportunity, however, and this time he fought his way across the line to claim their only win over Errani in six tries.

The orange-clad Bertens fell trembling with emotion on the clay when runner-up Errani stalked away in 2012 without recognizing their opponent.

Bertens reached the semifinals in 2016, but Roland Garros has not won a match since resuming the tour after the COVID-19 shutdown.

She retired injured in Strasbourg last week.
