The Bundesliga debut of basketball first division newcomer Niners Chemnitz will take place on Thursday (November 19th, 2020). The MDR found out on Monday. The game at ex-champion Brose Bamberg starts at 7:00 p.m. The Liga BBL confirmed the date on its website.
The season for the Niners was originally supposed to start with a home game on Saturday (8:30 p.m.) against BG Göttingen. The first two games for the Saxons against Crailsheim on the 1st and against Bamberg on the 2nd matchday had been canceled due to Corona. There were five corona cases at the Niners in October – the entire team was then placed in quarantine. After another positive case, the Chemnitz health department sent 13 players plus one supervisor into quarantine last week.
The team has not had full team training for almost a month. There are currently ten players in training, eight are needed, four players have not yet had a positive test. The last test match was against Hamburg on October 17th. You want to make the best of this situation, the Niners told the MDR.
