Raimo returns to Latvia and strengthens BC ‘Liepāja’

Former Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) team Pasvāle “Pieno Žvaigzdes” center player Zigmārs Raimo has joined “Pafbet” Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LIBL) club “Liepāja”, the club informs in its “Instagram” account.

It has already been reported that the Lithuanian unit released 23-year-old Raimo because Edgars Žeļonis, who once played in Latvia, has been attracted in his place.

“The team is joined by the energetic Zigmārs Raimo, who spent the first part of the season in Lithuania. We wish him to reach new heights in our team,” the club says.

Raimo spent the past four seasons in North America, where, in addition to his financial studies at the University of Hawaii, he played for the National College Sports Association (NCAA), representing the Rainbow Warriors.

In his last NCAA season, he went on the field in 30 games and all started in the top five. He played an average of less than 33 minutes, scored 9.3 points, won 6.8 rebounds, scored 3.3 times and caught 1.7 balls.

Before going to North America, Raimo was recognized as a 2015/2016. The best graduate of the Latvian Youth Basketball League (LJBL).

Raimo started playing basketball in Madona with coach Agnis Beķers, continued at “VEF school” with Jānis Gailītis and Raimonds Feldmanis, but in his last season made his debut at home in the Latvian Basketball League (LBL) championship as a member of “VEF Rīga” and “University of Latvia” teams. for LJBL champion in U-19 group.

Raimo has represented Latvia in all age groups in European youth championships.
