Unicorns end training and games / The official end of the season is November 30th

Due to the classification of the district of Schwäbisch Hall as a risk area, the training and game operations of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns have already been suspended for the past two weeks. It will now be finally ended for 2020. The American Football Association Germany (AFVD) confirms the official end of the season on November 30th.

Last Friday, the AFVD informed by email that the 2020 football season would end on November 30th, 2020, as it is also anchored in the federal game regulations. All games still planned, including the finals of the women’s and youth Bundesliga, are canceled. Ultimately, this is only a formality, because the latest Corona resolutions by the federal and state governments prohibit training in amateur sports from next Monday and up to this exact date. De facto, the end of the season has already come.

At the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, training and matches were suspended two weeks ago. The reason for this was that the 7-day incidence in the district of Schwäbisch Hall reached the 50 limit and the associated classification as a risk area. Since then, the value has risen to over 90 and unfortunately followed the nationwide trend, as in so many districts in Hall.

“As in the whole year, we also took the brakes early on the second wave of corona. Always with a little hope that the situation will improve, ”says Unicorns chairman Jürgen Gehrke. “Now the decision about training yes or no came from the government and was no longer ours, but we wouldn’t have made it any other way either.”

For the Unicorns, as for all other football clubs in Germany, a curious and frustrating sporting year is coming to an end. “There is nothing left but to draw a line under 2020 and look ahead. We very much hope that in 2021 we will be able to return to a bit more normality, “says Gehrke and adds:” We were particularly pleased during this often very stressful time how our fans and partners kept to us. We really appreciate that and thank you very much for it! “
