Freimanis’ outstanding performance is rewarded with a place in the symbolic team of the United League

The league organizers have included a total of five basketball players in the star line-up, but two of them represent Zelona Gura’s “Stelmet Enea” unit. One of them is also a Latvian Freimanis.

The Polish club went on the pitch twice last week, winning in both. Initially, Nursultana’s “Astana”, represented by Mārtiņš Meiers and Ojārs Siliņš, was defeated with 110:86, but later with 85:79, Perm’s “Parma” represented by Marek Mejers was defeated.

Freimanis stood out with 22 points in the first duel, spending 23 minutes on the court, during which three out of four two-point shots and three of four three-pointers, as well as seven of nine free throws were sent to the basket. He also had six rebounds, a pass, a blocked throw, a caught ball, six provoked fouls against the opponent and two personal notes, as well as the second best efficiency ratio in the game.

In the second duel, Freimanis scored less than a point and spent 32 minutes and 29 seconds on the court, during which he took two of the five two-point shots, four of the six “threes” and five of the six free throws.

He also defeated four rebounds, made two mistakes, intercepted two balls, violated the rules four times, provoked five remarks and scored 19 efficiency points. The Polish team threw 15 points more than Freimani on the field, which was by far the best result in the team.

Also included in the best team of the week is Freimanis teammate Gabriel Lundberg, who stood out in the last match with 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and three intercepted balls, as well as 25 efficiency coefficient points.

Stelmet Enea ranks seventh in the standings with five wins in 11 games.

As in the previous season, 13 teams will start in this regular tournament – nine from Russia, as well as one unit each from Estonia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Poland. For the second season in a row, the “VEF Rīga” team is not participating in the tournament.

The 2019/2020 league season ended prematurely due to a pandemic caused by the coronavirus, without finding out the champion. At the time of the termination of the championship, the first place was taken by the “Khimki” of the Moscow region, but the second place was taken by the Moscow CSKA.
