Syracuse Basketball Adds Midweek Game Against Northeastern To Program (Report)

Syracuse, NY – The stadium’s Jeff Goodman says the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team will host Northeastern on Wednesday.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim had said after Orange’s win against Boston College on Saturday that he hoped to add a game this week.

Northeastern are 0-1 this season after several games were canceled due to Covid. The Huskies’ only game was a 94-79 loss to Massachusetts on Friday.

Northeastern was due to play Bryant on Wednesday. The Northeast Conference; of which Bryant is a member only plays conference games.

Bryant will now receive Wagner on both Wednesday and Thursday, which means Northeastern appears to be looking for a new opponent on Wednesday.

Syracuse (4-1) lost several non-conference games from its original schedule when the NCAA postponed the start of the season and reduced the number of games.

Teams can play either 25 or 27 games depending on whether they are participating in a multi-team event. Syracuse had put together an MTE with Binghamton and Niagara, but Binghamton’s basketball program was suspended.

The Orange currently has 26 games on the program.

The best window for Syracuse to add a game to is this week. The Orange has an open week until Buffalo is a guest next Saturday.
