AJ Cole returns with the Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have reached an agreement with reliever AJ Cole on the terms of a minor league contract that will net him $ 1 million if he manages to secure his place on the team.

This is what Bob Nightengale reported on Friday from USA Today.

The agreement would also provide $ 200,000 in performance bonuses.

The 29-year-old Cole was one of manager Charlie Montoyo’s go-to guys last season in the bullpen. In 24 games and 23.1 innings pitched, he recorded three wins, one save, 20 strikeouts and an earned-run average of 3.09.

Also playing with the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Washington Nationals, Cole has an earned-run average of 4.65 in 103 career major baseball games.
