Bad day for Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz in the Dakar Rally. The Spanish pair of Mini gave up another 22 minutes in the ninth stage, moving further away from the first place of the general classification, where their Mini teammate, Stephane Peterhansel, commands with greater authority.

The Frenchman emerged victorious from a 465 stage around Neom, and has already accumulated almost 18 minutes of advantage on the second classified, Nasser Al-Attiyah, who suffered at least two punctures during the stage.

Sainz also had problems, with a difficult stage start which included a puncture before completing 100 kilometers of the route and a brake problem.

The Madrilenian tried after recovering it in the rest of the stage, but he could barely modify the differences with respect to the first riders. His disadvantage now with the leader of the race is 1 hour, 2 minutes and 25 seconds.
