Sarah Thomas will become the first female referee to work during a Super Bowl announced the NFL on Tuesday.
She will act as a test judge for Chief Referee Carl Cheffers during Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay on February 7.
Thomas joined the NFL in 2015 which ensured that she could take part in the ultimate game this year according to the league’s selection criteria. It is also based on the work carried out during the season. Thomas has played in four postseason games since joining the NFL.
Cheffers will be on his side for a second Super Bowl in the last five campaigns.
