Unprecedented and inadmissible. Kracík received a heavy penalty for slashing the referee

Pilsen hockey striker Jaroslav Kracík was punished by a ban on starting in six extra-league matches for cutting off a referee stick during the match of the 31st round in České Budějovice.

The 37-year-old made a mistake shortly after the throw-in in the third period and collected a personal penalty until the end of the match. The disciplinary commission informed about it in a press release.

For Kracík, the performance ended in Wednesday’s duel, which was eventually won by the home Motor 4: 3 in overtime, at the end of the 44th minute. He suddenly cut line judge Vladimír Rožánek’s hand at a time when the bull disk was already elsewhere.

“After losing the throw-in with a clear time lag, the player cut the stick held in both hands of the line referee into the unprotected inner side of the arm with a clear time delay, purposefully and clearly intent. As the referee was unable to continue immediately after the intervention, Chairman of the Extraliga Disciplinary Committee Viktor Ujčík.

Attacking the referees may prohibit the player from operating for one to three competitive matches, but in more serious cases, the penalty may climb to 10 matches and a financial fine of ten percent of the basic monthly fee. “Given the nature and manner in which it was conducted, the unprecedented and completely inadmissible conduct of player Jaroslav Kracík clearly falls within the highest level of the rate,” said Ujčík.

He dropped the penalty at the maximum limit, taking into account that Kracík had not been disciplined in the past two seasons, and after the intervention, according to the chairman of the Czech Ice Hockey Association’s referee committee, Vladimír Šindler, he repeatedly apologized to the victim.

Kracík is the third most productive player of the Škoda team this season. In 24 matches, he scored 17 points for five goals and 12 assists. The West Czechs will miss him in two matches against Třinec, in the West Bohemian derby with Karlovy Vary, in Brno, against Hradec Králové and on the ice of Vítkovice.
