AZ director Huiberts: “We had a clear agreement with Ferdy”

The last transfer period was different for AZ technical director Max Huiberts. That has only one cause: corona.

AZ did not attract anyone, but did rent out two players: Thijs Oostingh to RKC Waalwijk and Ferdy Druijf to KV Mechelen. “There have been quite a few phone calls, but he was calmer than the other transfer periods that I have experienced. But that also has its cause, as we all know,” Huiberts told NH.

Druijf wanted to leave AZ, because he had to do it with raids in Alkmaar. “We had a clear agreement with Ferdy. He helped us a lot with his raids last year.”

“If you look at the playing minutes for a player of his age, you can see that he is getting a bit more impatient and wants to make his minutes. There was quite a bit of interest in him.”
