“Consistent on important performances, that’s a really good sign” – OA Sport

Larissa Iapichino begins the Olympic season with a bang, improving three times his Italian Under 20 indoor long jump record and printing a remarkable 6,75 m on the fifth attempt on the occasion of Italian junior championships and indoor promises 2021 of Ancona. The talented 18-year-old daughter of Fiona May therefore came within five centimeters of the outdoor personal best of 6.80 obtained last summer, jumping to second overall position in the list of the best seasonal world performances, two centimeters from 6.77 signed yesterday in Berlin by the German Malaika Mihambo.

I’m really so happy because this race was meant to break the ice and understand my form, and now I can say I’m fine! The thing that amazes me is that there was not only the 6.70, but immediately after the 6.75: measures that leave me really happy, it means that I’m consistent on important performance and that’s a really good signLarissa told the federal site after the contest – Today I arrived calmly on the platform, I was aware of what I was doing: I reached an extra step of my competitive maturity and this allowed me to maintain control and concentration in the race. I hope I can continue the season as I started it and with my coach Gianni Cecconi we will continue to work to maintain these results, already from the Indoor Absolutes, also here in Ancona, on February 20-21”.
