Marcell Ozuna will be out for six weeks

Marcell Ozuna will miss at least six weeks after sustaining a left hand injury in his team’s 3-1 victory over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

After returning to Atlanta on Wednesday to be evaluated by hand specialist Dr. Gary Lourie, Ozuna reported on his condition via his Instagram account.

“Thank God nothing more serious happened,” wrote the gunner. “Now to wait six weeks recovering.”

A Major League Baseball source confirmed the projected recovery time that Ozuna posted.

The slugger suffered the injury while attempting to advance from middle to third on a groundout from Ozzie Albies. The veteran slid into the base, trying to beat the shot made by Puerto Rican Kike Hernández. His ring finger bent uncomfortably when he collided with the foot of the Dominican Rafael Devers.

Before suffering the injury, Ozuna had hit an RBI double in the third inning. He’s hitting .213 with a .645 OPS on the year.
