EM test: Germany plays a draw against Denmark

Germany did not get beyond a 1: 1 (0: 0) in the EM preparatory game against Denmark. In the comeback of Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller, who have not been considered since November 2018, who both played from the start, Florian Neuhaus scored the lead for the DFB team (48th minute). Yussuf Poulsen from RB Leipzig equalized for the Danes (71st).

It was the penultimate test match before the start of the European Championship on June 15 against France. Next Monday (8.45 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de; TV: RTL) there will be the dress rehearsal against Latvia.

Germany started the game better against Denmark; Above all, the harmony between Bayern teammates Joshua Kimmich and Müller could be felt. A strong chip ball from Kimmich ran into Müller in the penalty area, but he headed into the arms of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel (14th). Otherwise only Germany was dangerous, Serge Gnabry had the greatest chance of the first round, who let out two opponents at the edge of the penalty area and hit the crossbar (44th).

Neuhaus takes care of the leadership

One of the best Germans in the first round, Neuhaus then took the lead. Gosens brought the ball into the penalty area from the left, Kimmich still missed the ball, but because the Danes could not clear the ball, Neuhaus pushed in from close range (48th). Denmark got stronger as a result, but they were lucky not to fall further behind when Gosens failed from an acute angle to Schmeichel (54th).

The fact that it wasn’t enough to win the test match was due on the one hand to a strong pass from Christian Eriksen. From midfield, the Danish star player from Inter Milan played a strong interface pass to Poulsen, who pushed into the short corner in the duel with Hummels (71). On the other hand, the missed victory was due to the fact that Kimmich hit the post in a duel with former Bundesliga defender Jannik Vestergaard (77th).
