Rumored to Return to Real Madrid, James Rodriguez Gives a Straightforward Answer: Okezone Bola

MADRID – James Rodriguez has opened up about the issues that link him back to Real Madrid in the 2021 summer transfer market. James also gave a straightforward answer by stating that his time at Real Madrid is now over.

James Rodriguez has played down the chances of a return to Real Madrid this summer. This issue itself arose after Real Madrid decided to bring home Carlo Ancelotti to fill the coach seat.

Ancelotti was recruited after Zinedine Zidane decided to resign from his position as coach of Los Blancos – the nickname of Real Madrid. The decision was taken after Madrid swallowed the bitter pill in the 2020-2021 season. In that season, Madrid failed to gain a single title.

Ancelotti’s return is also believed to be able to give hope to James Rodriguez to return to his good times playing for Real Madrid. James himself now only has 12 months remaining on his contract at Everton.

That way, the 29-year-old midfielder could be released by Everton this summer. However, James actually said that his time at Madrid was over.

“Yes, I think my time at Madrid is over. The first three years were good, but last year when I had (the opportunity) to stay, I wanted to play for another team,” said James Rodriguez, as quoted by Sportsmole, Thursday (8/7/2021).

“My early years were good. When I went there, a lot of people said nice things to me.”

James Rodriguez himself showed a less than optimal performance with Everton in the 2020-2021 season. Due to frequent injuries, he can only score six goals and five assists in 23 appearances in the Premier League.

Even so, rumors of James returning to Madrid are still sticking out. Madrid itself has released a number of players in the 2021 summer transfer market. One of them is Sergio Ramos.
