Wimbledon: Roger Federer eliminates Richard Gasquet and confidently reaches the third round

In the first round, Richard Gasquet managed to make the game tight. The decision was made in the tie-breaker. In this, however, Roger Federer left nothing wrong. With 7: 1 he grabbed the first set.

At the beginning of the second set, the Frenchman secured a breakball, but could not use it. Federer kept his nerve and took the lead 1-0. It was the beginning of the end for Gasquet: Federer used his break chance and made it 2-0. The Swiss also had the upper hand on the following points and expanded to 5-0.

The 1: 5 from Gasquet on his own serve was nothing more than a correction of the result. The second set also went to Federer 6: 1.

In the third run, Gasquet caught himself again. Everything stayed in line until 3: 3. Then Federer got the break to 4: 3. For the following service, the maestro did not give up a point and set it to 5: 3.

In the ninth game Gasquet managed to fend off a match point and come back to 4-5. On his own serve, Federer then converted his second match point.

In the first lap, Roger Federer threatened the end. With a score of 6: 4, 6: 7 (3: 7), 3: 6, 6: 2, he benefited from the injury-related abandonment of his French opponent Adrian Mannarino.
