Africa’s first medal at the U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup is not for this year. Facing Hungary in the match counting for 3rd place, the Malians bowed their heads to a score of 88-67 in Latvia.
At no time have the Malians gained the upper hand over their opponents of the day. During the four quarters time, they never knew how to overthrow the Hungarian mountain during this meeting which could allow them to hang the bronze medal. The Hungarians respectively dominated all quarter times by 18-14, 24-17, 20-18, 26-18, for a score of 88-67. In search of a medal, the Malians will be content with this fourth place which is still a good performance for an African team.
