The joy for access to the final of ‘Gimbo’ Tamberi, the disappointment for the elimination of the team sword. Today at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is an Italy with two faces, which has to deal with fluctuating results.
In the first competition of Olympic athletics Gianmarco Tamberi, one of the few Azzurri who can fight for a medal, has qualified for the final of the high jump. After a mistake at 2.28, ‘Gimbo’ has passed the measure that allows him to enter the final for a medal scheduled for 1 August.

SWORD DELUSION – No chance of a medal instead for the men’s sword team, yet another disappointment of Italian fencing at these Olympic Games. The Azzurri, silver in Rio 2016, eliminated by Russia in the first meeting, valid for the quarter-finals. Marco Fichera, Andrea Santarelli and Enrico Garrozzo they were beaten by the Russians 45-34.
