With Franz Wagner and Oscar Da Silva, two German players will appear in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Karim Jallow and Joshua Obiesie, however, are not included.
The Olympic Games are over, but the next basketball event is just around the corner: The NBA Summer League begins in Las Vegas today, Sunday, August 8th, and all 30 NBA franchises will take part. There are also two German players: Franz Wagner and Oscar Da Silva.
As the eighth draft pick this year, Franz Wagner will of course play in the Summer League. The Orlando Magic made the winger the highest German draft pick since Detlef Schrempf in 1985 (also in eighth place). As a lottery pick, Wagner will certainly see a few minutes.
Oscar Da Silva was not drawn in this year’s NBA draft, with an appearance in the Summer League at the Oklahoma City Thunder, the 22-year-old will want to recommend himself in the NBA environment. After graduating from college in Stanford, Da Silva signed with MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg last season. His contract, which runs until 2023, already includes an exit option this summer, with which the Big Man could also switch to the NBA.
Joshua Obiesie and Karim Jallow won’t be in Las Vegas. The former recently played for the Sacramento Kings in a mini version of a Summer League, the newcomer FC Bayern Munich had played a game for the Sacramento Kings at the California Classic and scored two points in nine minutes. However, Guard is not in the Kings roster for Las Vegas.
Karim Jallow actually wanted to play for the Phoenix Suns, like Hoopshype for information from Jallows agent had reported. But the new addition from ratiopharm ulm is not in their roster. BBL spokesman Bastian Doreth reported in his podcast that Jallow was suffering from a “minor injury”. Those in charge of Ulm did not want to comment on this.
One player who will appear in the BBL in the coming season and who will definitely be there in Las Vegas is Max Heidegger. The new signing of EWE Baskets Oldenburg on loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv will slip on the jersey of the Atlanta Hawks.

This listing could still change as the Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks and Utah Jazz have not yet announced their Summer League roster.
The Las Vegas Summer League will take place from August 8th to 17th. Games can be seen in the NBA League Pass and on DAZN. The Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks will kick off on Sunday at 10 p.m. German time. Franz Wagner will enter the Summer League on Monday with the Magic against the Golden State Warriors, the Thunder around Oscar Da Silva are active for the first time against the Detroit Pistons the day before.
