Ganem: Basketball League will be the only one with all its members vaccinated

The president of the National Professional Basketball League of Mexico (LNBP), Sergio Ganem, said this Thursday that his competition will be the only one in the country that will have all its members vaccinated against covid-19 before its start.

“The LNBP will be the only professional sports league in Mexico that will be 100% vaccinated. Everyone, coaches, players, board of directors, referees, ‘staff’, administrative personnel, we are all vaccinated ”, the manager boasted prior to the start of the 2021 season.

Ganem highlighted the effort that the teams have made to be back on the court as of September 22 and satisfy their fans.

“These months have been difficult because many activities have been reduced by confinement, despite this we have developed platforms to be closer to our fans,” he stressed.

The executive mentioned that between television channels and internet platforms they estimate that the new campaign will have an audience of more than 60 million viewers.

“We know that all the teams have made a great effort to keep up, so we hope to reach more than 60 million fans through the broadcasts on more than 50 platforms available to follow the games on the internet and television.”

Sergio Ganem, also owner of the champion Fuerza Regia, said that the participation of 10 teams is confirmed, which will be divided into two zones on their way to the ‘playoffs’ to seek a place in the final.

The regular season runs from September 22 to October 22. The playoffs will be played between October 26 and November 28 in a series to win three of five games.

This format, winning three out of five games, Ganem mentioned, will be repeated in the semifinals.

“The next stage, that is, the semifinals, will be played from October 28 to November 3. The zone finals will take place between November 6 and 14 ”, he pointed out.

The final between the winner of the west zone against the monarch of the east zone will take place between November 17 and 28. The champion must win four of seven games.

The current LNBP champion is Fuerza Regia de Monterrey, who won the award under the command of Spaniard Francisco Olmos, who won three titles in Mexican basketball.

Olmos left Fuerza Regia last June to coach Spain’s ACB League Breogán.
