Inter Milan Announce Denzel Dumfries & Edin Dzeko Transfer Transfers

The two players were brought in to each fill the void after the death of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

Inter Milan officially recruited two new players in the transfer market this summer. They are defender Denzel Dumfries and veteran striker Edin Dzeko.

The Serie A champions have previously been busy with the sale of players, with the San Siro club earning at least €197.05 million.

That much money was earned from the release of Matteo Politano to Napoli in the figure of €19 million, Achraf Hakimi to PSG (€60 million) and Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea (€115 million) as the club was dealing with financial problems.

After landing Hakan Calhanoglu from rival club AC Milan for free, Inter have now acquired Dzeko too for free. Even so, the club will have to pay €1.5 million to AS Roma the following summer if Inter qualify for the Champions League, claims renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

At Inter, Dzeko signed a contract until June 2023 and will be used as a replacement for Lukaku as well as to accompany Lautaro Martinez up front.

The 35-year-old bomber has even played for Inter in the test match against Dinamo Kiev on Saturday (14/8) evening WIB and scored one goal in a 3-0 win at U-Power Stadium, Monza.

To Inter TV, Dzeko said: “It feels good to be here. I’m happy,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for me and I want to thank the coach and director for putting their faith in me and believing that I can still make a difference.

“Inter are a big club, champions of Italy, and I’ve seen what they did during my six years in Serie A. Now I’m going to play for them and I’m happy. I can’t wait to play with my new team-mates.”

Meanwhile, Dumfries was recruited to fill Hakimi’s role at right-back. The Netherlands international arrived from PSV for €12.5 million and has signed a contract until June 2025.

Speaking after being unveiled, the 25-year-old said: “I am very happy to join the Italian champions. This is a great opportunity for me and I feel happy to be here,” he told Inter TV.

“I am a wide defender and I attack a lot. I think I would fit in at Inter considering they play in a back five, like I did in Holland.”
