The Japan team had their biggest test at the Saitama Super Arena, faced a selection of Belgium which is famous for the number of gunners it has and in a dramatic ending They managed to win the 86-85 victory against the Europeans in the women’s basketball of Tokyo 2020.

With 21 points from Yuki Miyasawa and another 19 from Maki Takada, Japan got a win that could be worth a medal in the Olympics and that leaves out one of the teams with the best shooters in the tournament.

A triple by Machida turned the game around 86-85 and the Japanese took the sale with 15 seconds on the clock. Mestdagh had the winning shot from the line and missed it, so Japan advances to the semifinals in Tokyo 2020 basketball.
