The Japan team had their biggest test at the Saitama Super Arena, faced a selection of Belgium which is famous for the number of gunners it has and in a dramatic ending They managed to win the 86-85 victory against the Europeans in the women’s basketball of Tokyo 2020.

With 21 points from Yuki Miyasawa and another 19 from Maki Takada, Japan got a win that could be worth a medal in the Olympics and that leaves out one of the teams with the best shooters in the tournament.
In the first room, Japan dominated the Belgians, Yuki Miyasawa and Nako Motohashi were in charge of making a pair of triplesEverything seemed that the Japanese could with their rival at the end of the period up 19-16.
But The Belgians responded quickly with a 3-point barrage from Julie Allemand and Billie Massey to go to the break with a 42-41 advantage and the duel had closed.
The third quarter was entirely from Belgium, constant failures of the Japanese team were taken advantage of by the Europeans, Allemand’s pair of baskets managed to go up by double digits.
Mestdagh had the winning shot at the end for Belgium
In the last the Japanese reacted, Rui Machida made a tremendous triple and the score was tied at 76. A couple of errors by the Japanese saw Kim Mestdagh hit a double and Emma Meesseman kick a free kick for Belgium to take off for 4 at the end.
A triple by Machida turned the game around 86-85 and the Japanese took the sale with 15 seconds on the clock. Mestdagh had the winning shot from the line and missed it, so Japan advances to the semifinals in Tokyo 2020 basketball.
