Podoroska said goodbye in Toronto’s second round

Argentine tennis player Nadia Podoroska (38th) did not stand up this Wednesday, fell 2-6 and 4-6 against Italian Camila Giorgi (71st) and said goodbye in the second round of the WTA 1000 in Montreal.

In her absolute debut in the Canadian tournament, in which she had dispatched the Polish Magda Linette 6-1 and 6-2 last Monday, l24-year-old rosarina was beaten from start to finish and, despite an improvement in the second set, succumbed in one hour and 30 minutes of play. The only four winning shots, a service point and two breaks for the South American, against 24, five and five, respectively, of the European, perfectly explain the outcome of the match.

The 2020 Roland Garros semi-finalist is not enjoying her best season, because, in 15 competitions contested, his best performance was quarterfinals in Yarra Valley, in Belgrade and in Bad Homburg.

For her part, Giorgi, daughter of an Argentine father, will face the Czech Petra Kvitova (12th) in the next instance, who celebrated 6-4 and 6-4 against the French Fiona Ferro.
