[ANÁLISE] We Are Football | We finally have a replacement for Football Manager?

We Are Football is a football manager style game that allows you to manage your team at the same time you train your team. Developed by Winning Streak Games e THQ Nordic, the game hits the market to compete with the consolidated Football Manager.

objective

The aim of the game is to consolidate your club for the long term by focusing on management tasks. Grow your team, your technical team, your club’s infrastructure, your fans and much more. As such, the players on your team have individual personalities and stories of their own.

gameplay

The starting point of the game is classic: create your own avatar and select your team. And here, we have some interesting points.

The first point is definitely positive, which is the presence of women’s championships. These competitions aren’t that different from the men’s championships, but it’s a nice addition to the game.

The other points are totally negative. Few available leagues and the total absence of licenses, both with regard to clubs, which often have their own invented names, and the names of players, who have nothing in common with those we know in reality.

Although, the developer decided to include a data editor dedicated to the game. The editor can be used to change the information of almost anything that is loaded into a save.

The game has few concepts and does not go deep in some aspects, starting with the players themselves. Talents are identified only by general level, with no statistics on player attributes, such as: dribbling, finishing, marking, etc.

Unlike Football Manager, We Are Football allows you to add several specific multi-player skills, which are unlocked as you play, much like an RPG system.

Your avatar doesn’t run away from that much, because game after game, you can gain new experiences and level up and earn action points, which are used for a player’s growth.

As for the famous tactics, 4-4-2, 3-5-2 and 4-3-3, they practically do not exist. Player icons can be moved around at will on the field, thus expanding your choices, but this ends up being a negative point.

In We Are Football, we can motivate the team with a few sentences before the whistle starts. There is also a way to economically encourage your team if you are in a decisive match. There are also ways to sabotage the opponent, such as not increasing the pitch, wasting time in an unsportsmanlike manner in the final minutes, turning on the sprinklers during the match or even turning off the lights in your stadium.

Matches are not shown through a 3D, just like Football Manager. Another negative point is that the game does not have many statistics about your game, such as: the percentage of possession of the ball.

One of the positive points is that the game allows you to visit the locations of your training center, in addition to the possibility of expanding it and visiting your club’s museum, where the trophies won are kept. It is also possible for you to have a view of your stadium and even change its structure.

Another positive point is that it is possible to negotiate contracts with sponsors. The trading mode is very similar to player signings. We can also promote fan meetings and even organize a meeting with the organized fans.

Final considerations

We Are Football, is a lightweight soccer simulator with some interesting ideas, but it offers a very raw experience and little complexity. Longtime fans of Football Manager abandon the game to test another football management simulator, even one that has so few features, especially from a tactical point of view.
