“Apparently it changes a life to be an Olympic champion”

New captain of the Metz club, titled in Tokyo in the French team this summer, the 23-year-old center-half is preparing to reveal her new status during a French Championship which begins on Wednesday.

Méline, did you come down to earth after winning the Olympic title in Tokyo?
Méline Nocandy: I still don’t realize. I think until December I will not realize. I will have to wait to return home to Guadeloupe for the end of year celebrations to land, in quotes. I was able to celebrate this title with the public, with my club, but the family is something else.

Do you realize that you now have a different status?
No, even though everyone told me. Apparently it changes a life to be an Olympic champion, but so far I haven’t seen the difference yet. I always train the same way, I always have the same complaints, the same advantages. Nothing has changed, but perhaps as time goes by, I would be led, by this title, to take on more responsibilities. But there, it is still too fresh.

Is it complicated to come back to everyday life and to re-motivate yourself?
