The judo Bundesliga team wrestled record champions TSV Abensberg with a 7-7 draw at the start of the season. Clear 11: 3 victory against TV 1848 Erlangen.
Esslingen – Lukas Klemm was at the end of his tether. A little more than that. The judoka of KSV Esslingen had missed the German championships the week before due to an infection. At the start of the season, however, he competed for his team – still correspondingly weakened. And of all people he completed the longest fight of the day in a duel with record champions TSV Abensberg – and defeated Manuel Scheibel in the weight class up to 66 kilograms after 10:35 minutes. “That was the decisive victory,” said Esslingen team boss Carsten Finkbeiner. The decisive victory for the 7: 7 draw against Abensberg, which hardly anyone had expected. Because Abensberg is still the top team in German judo. And because the favorite, in contrast to the Esslingen team, had almost the best line-up.
