On Tuesday, the Latvian national football team played the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Montenegro. After the game, Dainis Kazakevičs, the head coach of the Latvian national team, gave his comment on the match at the press conference.
“In general, we played a rather difficult game. Both teams were motivated to win, ”Kazakevičs was quoted on the website of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF). “It is clear that this course of the game was predicted – that we will play compactly on our side of the field and focus on counter-attacks. Both teams had a chance to win. ”
“The home team may have had more moments, but we probably had the best chance to pull out the victory in the last seconds. Not everything worked out, but overall I can say that the team had a pretty successful game. However, this was the third game for our team in this camp, and some players had a lot of workload, ”admitted the coach.
“It is clear that we were in the mood to play for three points before the game. We realized that the game will not be easy. We failed to score from the opportunities we created. Usually, the team that had the last good chance feels especially painful, so there is a certain disappointment with the result of the game, ”said Kazakevičs.
