NBA News: Boston Celtics trade for Juancho Hernangomez

The Boston Celtics have agreed with the Memphis Grizzlies to trade Carsen Edwards and Kris Dunn in exchange for Forward Juancho Hernangomez. This reported ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal also includes an exchange of the second round picks in 2026 in favor of the Grizzlies.

The deal cannot be finalized until September 15th. Point Guard Dunn was sent from the Hawks to the Celtics last month as part of a three-team trade for Tristan Thompson.

Hernangomez was only signed to the Grizzlies last week. He joined Jarrett Culver in a trade for Patrick Beverley Memphis, having previously played for the Timberwolves for a year and an average of 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds. He had previously signed a three-year contract for $ 21 million.

The Spanish international recently missed the Olympic tournament due to shoulder surgery. The Celtics are hoping that the Big Man will provide additional depth to Power Forward, he has hit 35 percent of his three-pointers over his career so far. Other options in this position are behind starters Jayson Tatum Grant Williams and Jabari Parker.

Dunn, who almost completely missed the previous season due to problems in his ankle and knee, is going into the second and final year of his contract (10 million total), he has not yet been able to meet expectations as the number five pick in the 2016 draft. Edwards was picked 33rd by the Celtics in 2019, but only used sporadically (4.0 points in 31 games in 2020/21).
