Youssoufa Moukoko meets – and writes history twice

The Stefan Kuntz era at the DFB continues for the time being. With the U21 selection he started against San Marino in the qualification for the EM 2023. Youssoufa Moukoko wrote history.

The U21 national team won the first game of the European Championship qualifiers 6-0 against San Marino. The team of national coach Stefan Kuntz shone especially in the first round. Youssoufa Moukoko was not only the youngest U21 national player in history, but also the youngest goalscorer.

At 16 years and 286 days, he replaced Julian Draxler as the youngest goal scorer (17 years, 323 days) and Florian Wirtz as the youngest national player (17 years, 159 days). The BVB striker scored twice against San Marino. The other goals were scored by Tom Krauss, Jonathan Burkardt (2x) and Jamie Leweling.

21. Minute – The DFB team is almost up to speed. Again, the German selection combined towards the penalty area, but Moukoko stuck. Krauss puts the ball out to the right, where Appelkamp is free. In front of the goal, however, the Dusseldorf narrowly fails.

19. Minute – GOAL FOR GERMANY! In the 12th minute, Burkardt missed his goal, which he is now making up for. The Mainz striker moves towards the penalty area and plays a one-two with Appelkamp. In front of the gate he stays ice cold – and scores.

16. Minute – A lot goes over the right side of Stuttgart’s Massimo. The dynamic full-back penetrates the penalty area and plays a one-two with Shinta Appelkamp. But San Marino can clear the corner, but it does not bring anything.

12. Minute – The next good chance for the German team! Tom Krauss storms over the right half space into the penalty area. But instead of putting the ball across to Captain Burkardt, he closes himself. The ball lands on the opposing goalkeeper’s body. It remains 1-0 for the DFB selection.

8. Minute – The German team tries again and again to attack the defense of San Marino with long balls and to set their own pace in the scene.

4. Minute – GOAL FOR GERMANY! It only took a little more than three minutes for Germany to take the lead. Youssoufa Moukoko processes a high ball into the penalty area cleanly, dances off two opponents and closes. But his attempt from an acute angle is blocked. The ball lands in the middle, where Tom Krauss rushes in and carves the play equipment towards the goal. The ball jumps into the net from the lower edge of the crossbar.
