Newcastle lost this Sunday 2-3 with Tottenham in a Premier League match, although beyond the result, they were scared by a fan who collapsed and had to be treated by doctors in the middle of the game, in the stands of the St stadium James’ Park.
In a corner kick for the ‘spurs’, Sergio Reguilón warned the referee by a fan who was lying in the stands: the players and the crowd reacted quickly to call for medical attention, and the referee Andre Marriner realized that it was of a medical emergency, so he called off the game.
The players were asked to go to their benches, to freshen up and await the attention of the doctors to the Newcatle fan. After almost 20 minutes, and with the help of a defibrillator, the fan was successfully revived.
At the end of the game, Reguilón spoke of the scare they had in the middle of the game. “It was very strange, we went to the locker room and I was looking at the man lying down, I was nervous because I don’t like to see that. We won, but for me the most important thing is that the fans are fine, because they told me they are stable.
