Atlanta reaches the World Series against Houston

The Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros are fighting for the Major League Baseball (MLB) title in the finals this year. The Braves won the National League Championship Series against defending champions Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 on Saturday and reached the World Series again after 22 years.

Opponents in the series based on the “best of seven” mode are the Houston Astros from Tuesday evening (local time). The Texans, MLB champions of 2017, booked their final ticket on Friday 4-2 against the Boston Red Sox.

“It’s amazing. This organization has been around for a very long time, and it’s been a long time since we were in the World Series,” said Atlanta’s first baseman Freddie Freeman. Atlanta won the MLB title three times, most recently in 1995.

Last season, the Braves were already 3-1 ahead of the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series – and they gave away all three match points to advance to the World Series.
