Badminton – Paralympic badmaker Méril Loquette dons the coaching cap

He has not yet finished his sports career which he is already promoted to the rank of coach. Through the Maurecourt Andresy Badminton (MAB) club, the Andresian Paralympic badist six times champion of France and sixth world player, Méril Loquette, promulgates his advice and his passion for sport to young children of “six to nine years” approximately all Wednesdays at the Stéphane Diagana sports complex in Andrésy.

“At that age, what you have to do in particular is serve because if there are no serves in badminton, there are no exchanges”, declared on 29 last September, the Paralympic badist, on the occasion of a day of meeting with the public at the Andresian sports complex.

In addition to promoting the recent collaboration between the cities of Andrésy and Maurecourt for badminton, the event which brought together about twenty people was also an opportunity for the athlete suffering from a lack of development of the fingers to the right hand to retrace his course at the Tokyo Paralympic Games where badminton was represented for the first time.

“I saw that I have progressed madly compared to my opponents”, declares Méril Loquette who did not however win any medals during the competition but who is now looking towards the next Paralympic Games which will take place in 2024, in Paris. This progression in his way of playing, the badiste seems to explain it mainly by the pressure felt during the competition.

“The stress was so great, I went through all of them [les états]. I didn’t know I was qualified, I knew it at the last moment, I was stressed. I was happy, I won a game at the Games, I lost two games at the Games, I got injured. I went through everything except the medal ”, he recalls his career at the Paralympic Games before adding, smiling:“ This experience I think it can only help me for later ”. On September 29, the mayor, Lionel Wastl (EELV), in any case presented him with the City medal.
