On October 30, the person in charge of the basketball hall, Mr. Wang, told Jimu News that three coaches were seriously injured and many others were slightly injured in the accident. The preliminary estimate of the loss of the arena is about 1.5 million yuan.

The incident occurred in a basketball stadium in Zhongshan District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. The live video taken by the surveillance showed that there were both people playing games and spectators sitting on the sidelines in the basketball hall. In an instant, the wall on one side of the basketball hall suddenly began to collapse, and everyone in the arena scattered for shelter.
Another live video showed that several people were sitting under the collapsed wall at the time of the incident. Some people were too late to escape and were hit by falling bricks.
At 7 o’clock in the evening on October 30, Mr. Wang, the person in charge of the basketball hall, told JiMu News that the incident occurred at about 11 o’clock in the morning on October 28. At that time, a building near the arena was doing external wall insulation. A crane suddenly lost control and slipped. After sliding for a certain distance, it directly smashed the outer wall of the basketball hall. The accident caused serious injuries to 3 coaches and several minor injuries. The injured are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The three injured coaches were not employees of the basketball hall, but coaches of a children’s basketball training class. They have long-term partnerships with each other. Fortunately, that day is not the time for the children to attend the training class, otherwise the consequences will be even more disastrous.
At present, the construction party has already paid part of the medical expenses, but there is no consensus on the compensation of the arena. The accident caused a large area of damage to the outer wall of the arena, and the more serious damage was the floor. The preliminary estimate of the loss of the arena is about 1.5 million yuan.
The crane was still at the scene of the accident 3 days after the incident
“It has been three days since the incident occurred, but the crane has not been towed away.” Mr. Wang told Jimu News. For some reason, the crane remained at the scene of the accident without handling it, and the arena was also in a mess.
Through a piece of the latest live video provided by Mr. Wang, the Jimu News reporter saw that the crane was indeed still at the scene of the incident, and the surrounding area had been cordoned off. Although a large hole was knocked out of the outer wall of the basketball hall, there was still a small section of the wall that was not completely disconnected. Nearly half of the stadium was littered with bricks. In addition, there were clearly visible blood stains.
The Jimu News reporter contacted a man based on the phone number from the body of the crane in the accident. The other party said that he was not the driver of the crane but the staff involved in the rescue of the crane. The man introduced that the reason why the crane was not towed for 3 days after the incident was due to the limitation of the site. Except for the distribution of high-voltage lines, the scene of the incident was too narrow for large-scale rescue equipment to enter. At present, they are still actively thinking of ways to tow the crane away as soon as possible.
