Ilaria and Nicola Placidi at the Kata World Championships

The two judokas from Alghero will compete in the Kodokan Goshin Jitsu specialty

The Kata World Championship will take place from 26 to 28 October in Lisbon, Portugal, in which about 206 athletes representing 25 nations from 4 continents will participate.

The Italian Kata National Team will participate with the almost complete team and among these also the Alghero judokas Ilaria and Nicola Placidi of the Judo Club Alghero, who will compete in the specialty of the Kodokan Goshin Jitsu (the form of self-defense), of which they are Italian vice-champions of the 2019.

The World Championship is the first Kata competition in presence after the forced stop of 2020 due to the pandemic; in the first months of 2021 kata competitions were organized only in online mode and Placidi participated in them with excellent results (sixth in the European Cup in Pordenone and first in the BISI National Memorial Competition). Great satisfaction from the technicians of the Alghero Judo Club, the Piredda Masters who have also been cultivating this Judo specialty for many years and great joy for the restart of competitions at all levels.
