While Olympic champion Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) made it through to the round of 16, Tsitsipas described his task as a precautionary measure on the way to the ATP final of the season’s best eight players in Turin (November 14th to 21st).
He is trying “to be careful for the next tournament, which is the most important for me,” said the 23-year-old.
Tsitsipas refused to reveal the exact nature of the injury, but said it had been a problem for some time.
